Susan Morris McGee is a 7th generation Hoosier and a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Having won awards for art throughout her elementary and high school years, she was offered scholarships that would lead to a career in the arts. Instead, she opted to pursue a major in English and creative writing at Indiana University with the goal of becoming a writer. Although she continued to practice painting for personal pleasure, it wasn't until moving to Sarasota, Florida in 1977, that she decided to pursue painting as a career. Having no formal training, she embarked on a course of self-study, visiting galleries and museums, and poring over published works of artists she admired, while gradually honing her own style through trial and error. This process is ongoing. The followings a brief summary of career highlights over the past thirty-five years:

~ 87th and 89th Hoosier Salons, Indianapolis, Indiana, with a total of three paintings selected;
~ A "Top Fifty" finalist in Southwest Art Magazine's over "21 Over 31" Competition;
~ Arts for the Parks National Touring Exhibition, Jackson Hole Wyoming - had nine paintings selected over seven years for inclusion in the "Top 100"; was awarded the Silver Medallion as the Region III Winner in 2000;
~ Winner of the Langnickel Award for Watercolor in American Artist Magazine's Golden Anniversary Exhibition;
~ Winner of Third Watercolor Award in The "ArtQuest 88" National Touring Exhibition;
~ Winner of the "David Wu & Elsie Ject-Key" Memorial Award, Knickerbocker Artists 42nd Annual at the Salmagundi Club, New York City;
~ Various Awards in the Southern, Midwest, Florida & Montana Watercolor Societies' Annual Juried Exhibitions;
~ Selections in the Annual Juried Exhibitions of the National Watercolor Society (CA), the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (NYC), the Salmagundi Club Non-Member (NYC), the Chautauqua National Exhibition of American Art (NY), and many others;
~ Numerous Best of Show, 1st Place and other awards for the various Art Associations of Sarasota, Longboat Key and Manatee, all in Florida;
